Depending on its condition, timber gets a light clean if it's in good shape and only slightly dirty, a treatment and pressure wash if it's heavily soiled or discoloured, or sanding where the surface coating has deteriorated or cracked. We also paint, oil or apply the appropriate coating as required.

How often should a deck be oiled?
Inspect it every 12 months and recoat before the coating wears through (Intergrain).
Does it need sanding?
Only if the surface is rough, cracked or carrying a failing coating. Many decks just need a clean and recoat.
